High Temperature Solar-Thermal Research Room

Concentrating solar energy for making fuels, metals, ceramics and other chemicals has tremendous potential, particularly in Australia, where high solar fluxes are close to our mineral deposits. This laboratory uses a solar simulator (effectively a “controlled sun”) to provide a controllable indoor test facility to enable the testing and research of using solar energy in high temperature processes and other applications. It is a unique facility in this country and incorporates a novel design developed at Swinburne.
