Description

This world class workshop provides practical training for researchers and postgrad students in advanced live cell imaging techniques, enabling them to undertake microscopy approaches in cell signalling and quantitative cell dynamics with confidence.

The intensive course runs over 6 days, and has 3 integrated components:

  • 15 hours of lectures on optical, fluorescence and imaging theory
  • 18 hours of practical (hands-on) sessions in small groups using a variety of microscopes and modalities, and
  • 6 hours of image analysis tutorials.

Internationally renowned microscopists will be acting as mentors and lecturers.

Topics include:

  • fluorescence probes and labelling procedures
  • fluorescence quantitative approaches (FRAP, FRET, FCS, FLIM and Photoactivation),
  • fluorescence microscopy, confocal/ multiphoton optical sectioning microscopy and super resolution microscopy.

Students will get practical experience on a variety of microscopes from most major manufacturers, and a comprehensive range of experiments including imaging of zebra fish, drosophila, autophagy, FRET, FRAP, FCS, photo activation, wound healing and infectivity.
