New to fluorescence Microscopy? Want to learn the background?

The Biological Optical Microscopy Platform (BOMP) manages a number of high-end optical microscopes at the University of Melbourne. These include confocal, widefield, 2-photon, laser micro-dissection and super-resolution systems.

This lecture series will give attendees a basic background in fluorescence microscopy and is aimed at honours or early PhD students or anyone that is new to fluorescence microscopy.

Topics covered include:
• Fluorescence
• Fluorescent tags, dyes & proteins
• The fluorescence microscope
• The digital image & image analyses
• Live cell imaging
• Overview of BOMP systems (including Confocal, Super-Resolution, Multi-Photon and Laser Capture Microscopy)
