The Biosecure Immunology Laboratory sits within inside AAHL's physical containment level 3 (PC3) quarantine envelope and houses a flow cytometer machine capable of sorting infected live cell types enabling researchers to compare the immune responses of different animal species, including humans, to highly pathogenic zoonotic agents.
The Werribee Animal Health Facility (WAHF), comprises almost 20 acres of grazing areas, stock yards and animal room accommodation for medium to large animal species requiring QC1 to QC2 levels of microbiological, quarantine approved, containment.
The BMTF aims to provide an environment in which the existing research expertise from partners and collaborators will come together to create critical mass in collaborative multidisciplinary research teams, to develop new materials for devices, diagnostics, delivery technologies, imaging agents and the assessment of these materials through new, non-invasive, in situ imaging techniques.
