How VPTN facilities can help make your grant application the best it can be.

VPTN facilities can be useful allies for researchers in preparing applications for project funding and fellowships at the National Health and Medical Research Council and the Australian Research Council.
With only around a 20 per cent success rate of funding for research applications, it is important that researchers consider the budgetary detail needed for successful funding applications.
Certain factors can contribute to successful applications or higher proportions of funding for applications, for example, detailing the experimental design and techniques to be used as well as methods of statistical analysis, ethical implications of the research, timelines and expected outcomes of the research project.
VPTN facilities can use their expertise to detail itemised costings for your desired project, to strengthen the case for your application and the greatest amount of funding possible. The VPTN explores this idea in our upcoming workshop ‘Bang for your Buck: Boosting the impact of funding applications via facilities’ on 6 November 2014. The VPTN invites all member facilities as well as researchers to attend. Register here.
If you’re unable to attend, we still encourage researchers to browse 130+ VPTN facilities across Victoria that are ready and willing to aid your research in the next funding round.
If you’re unsure of what type of facility might be appropriate for your project, then posting your project to PlatformConnect FOR FREE and reaching out to the technical experts for their help will enable you to get some insight to your particular research question.
PlatformConnect is VPTN’s free online tool to connect researchers and industry (the Seeker) to the expertise a VPTN facility (the Provider) to meet project outcomes. It’s a simple three-step process:
- Post your project to automatically notify a set of Providers.
- Receive responses from Providers (VPTN facilities) who can help.
- Choose a Provider and get started.
