The recent VPTN Core Facilities networking event enabled many to publicise their facilities.
Professor Kate Smith-Miles, Head, School of Mathematical Sciences at Monash University and Director of the new platform known as MAXIMA, Professor Jonathan Baell from the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS) and contributor to the Medicinal Chemistry Facility, and Professor James Friend, Director of the forthcoming MicroNano Research Facility at RMIT began the conversation and before long more than 12 others shared information about their facility, commercial interests, career opportunities and upcoming events with all who attended.
Thereafter networking became more targeted and card swapping became de rigueur, as representatives from industry engaged with research facility managers.
The VPTN Networking Breakfast, Discovering Victoria’s Research Infrastructure, held on 25 June was attended by more than 50 guests from 33 institutions and companies.
Later, facilities managers were treated to a VPTN professional development workshop on using Search Engine Optimisation as a marketing tool for their facility. The workshop, presented by Clive Hawkins from Web Marketing Workshop Pty Ltd, introduced facilities to the power of online tools to lift search rankings for their websites.
Keep an eye out for more VPTN events in the near future!
