ARIN is a best practice process management and information system which will allow academic and industry researchers to access instruments, services and products in VPTN facilities from a single login – opening up opportunities for innovative research.

“The ease of booking and transparency of machine and service availability will assist and encourage productivity in research,” said VPTN Manager, Dr Gerard Gibbs.

Thirteen facilities have already joined the ARIN ranks, and licenses are available to facilities within the VPTN. A dedicated local team will support facilities training and usage of the software system, which is a key advantage for the network.

ARIN will soon grow to include more than 50 Victorian R&D facilities and already hosts research capabilities such as:

  • microscopy and medical imaging facilities
  • flow cytometry
  • genomics research support
  • MRI
  • NMR spectroscopy
  • histology
  • animal model behaviour facilities.

ARIN is an initiative of the Victorian Platform Technologies Network – a research infrastructure network of more than 140 facilities located in over 30 research organisations across Victoria – with support from the Biomedical Research Victoria and Monash University, with funding from the Victorian Government.
